Packaging machines for pharmaceutical products and food

Innovative packaging machines for pharmaceutical products and food

Packaging machines or also called packaging systems represent a technical unit which completely or partially encloses the product (e.g. tablets, liquids, powders, etc.) with a packaging (e.g. blister, bag, carton, etc.). A distinction is made between primary and secondary packaging. In primary packaging the product is directly in contact with the primary packaging material (glass, films, etc.). In the pharmaceutical industry, this happens in zone A (according to EU-GMP). The secondary packaging is the outer packaging that is not in direct contact with the packaging products. This can be, for example, transport packaging or a folding box filled with blisters. In the pharmaceutical industry, this is packaged in zone B or C (according to EU-GMP).
The primary, secondary and end-of-line packaging from Romaco and Farmo Res can be flexibly configured and are suitable for processing pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, industrial products as well as chemicals.

Blister machines:

Romaco Noack's pharma-grade blister machines stand for robust and flexible blister solutions for the production of small to medium batch sizes. Thanks to the short set-up times, product changeovers can be carried out within a very short time. Thanks to the space-saving machine sizes, Romaco blister machines can be installed almost anywhere. Thanks to the individual product protection provided by the different foils, the handling for the customer, the targeted product information and the increase in efficiency in the packaging process, the blisters have become very popular for pharmaceutical products such as capsules and tablets.

Thermoforming machines:

The forming, filling and sealing systems generally use packaging materials with a low degree of prefabrication, which are fed from the roll as a packaging material web. The packaging process combines the forming, filling and sealing of packaging materials such as thermoforming moulds and trays. As a rule, thermoforming or thermoforming is used to produce ready-to-fill packaging, which is then filled and sealed. The compact thermoforming machines are characterised by maximum reliability, efficiency, durability and a wide range of variants. Thanks to the modular design, this enables each machine to be customised with maximum output and optimum utilisation of the available space. Whether thermoforming machines for medical and pharmaceutical products or systems for food products, thanks to the large portfolio, a whole range of thermoforming machines can be offered.

Cartoners:

The Romaco Promatic cartoners are available in intermittent or continuous mode for the packaging of pharmaceutical products. The flexible, servo-driven secondary packaging machines enable you to reliably and safely package your blisters, sachets, stick packs or vials. Thanks to their modular design, they allow an almost limitless variety. Romaco Promatic develops tailor-made solutions for individual requirements: regardless of product specifications, package inserts and batch sizes. The number of units per pack is also almost unlimited. Since a very high throughput of 60 to over 400 folding cartons per minute can be achieved, the use of an automatic feeding system is recommended or a prerequisite in many cases. In addition, this type of cartoning machine often uses auxiliary equipment that, for example, folds and automatically inserts package inserts or prints or blind embosses codes on the cartons. These continuously or intermittently operating cartoners automatically load the cartons with products from the sides and close the folding carton by means of tabs or hot glue.

Top-load Cartoners:

The Senzani Topload cartoners are flexible and modular, so they can automatically fill, erect and glue almost all types of flat carton and web blanks,

Case packers:

Casepackers from Romaco Promatic are used as end-of-line packaging machines in a packaging line. The side packers for folding cartons are available as semi-automatic or fully automatic versions. They are mainly used for grouping, stacking and filling the shipping boxes. The folding boxes are fed horizontally to the dispatch box or carton. It is also possible to integrate Track & Trace components in order to guarantee complete security.

The level of automation in packaging machines is divided into three groups:

  • manual packaging by an operator
  • semi-automatic packing, operator actively supports the packing process
  • fully automatic packing without direct assistance from the operator
