These may be uniform thermoplastic monolayers or materials with multiple layers, at least one of which is thermoplastic. Heat sealing can join two similar materials or different materials, one of which has a thermoplastic layer.
Plastic pouches and other packaging are often formed and sealed using heat sealing equipment. Medical pouches and bags for liquids used in the medical, biotechnology and food industries. Liquid pouches are made from a variety of different materials including films, filter media, thermoplastics and laminates.
Heat sealers - have heated tools that are maintained at a constant temperature (also known as direct thermal sealing). They use one or more heated bars, irons or dies that touch the material to heat the interface and create a bond. The rods, irons and dies have different configurations and can be coated with a release layer or various smooth intermediate materials (e.g. Teflon films) are used to prevent adhesion to the hot tools.
